Status Update
September 14, 2005
Children of the Promise celebrated the dedication of their Infant Care Facilities on February 13, 2005. The Infant Care Center constructed was very close to the design we prepared with the most significant change being that they used a metal roof (see photo). Our team was aware that they were considering using a metal roof when we designed the building, but we designed a concrete roof in case a contractor could not be found who could build a metal roof at a reasonable price. The floor plan for the completed Infant Care Center is nearly identical to the floor plan designed by our eMi team.
Original Project Scope
Children of the Promise rescues abandoned infants in Cap-Haitien, Haiti and the surrounding communities. Children are cared for until they can be returned to their families. If they have no family who will care for them, they are adopted by families from Haiti, the U.S.A., and other countries. More information about Children of the Promise is available on their website. During the past 5 years Children of the Promise has cared for 150 homeless infants. They are currently caring for over 40 infants. Children of the Promise asked eMi to provide a master plan and construction documents for their Infant Care Facilities in May 2000.
