Project Update
August 10, 2006
The feasibility report has been published and the board of directors for Grace Ministries is deciding whether to proceed with funding the project. The work eMi did confirm that generating hydroelectric power is possible at the site, with approximately 34KW of electricity available through an appropriately sized turbine/generator. eMi was also able to provide a preliminary cost estimate that will help the board make an informed decision.
Original Project Scope
Grace Ministries International (GMI) was founded in 1939 beginning in the Belgian Congo. In the 1950's gospel workers were sent into Tanzania. Its mission statement has always consisted of evangelism, church planting, leadership training, and mercy ministries such as health services, education and community development.
They have aquired two used turbines from a farm in Europe. The Mumba River wraps around their campus with a significant elevation drop. A gravity-fed water-driven hydro-electric system would serve a number of their ministries including a high school, pastoral college and a outreach station.
This is a unique opportunity for a specialized group of engineers to serve overseas. This is the opportunity you've been waiting for!
