Master Plan

Auditorium Building Floor Plan and Elevation

Jan 2007 Update
The design is complete and has been sent to the ministry! As part of the design process, the eMi design team decided to split the program into two buildings: an auditorium building and a classroom building. These buildings were located to provide a central courtyard and more secure play area for the children. The master plan also provides on site parking with better circulation for the parking lot and a service road that provides access back to the cafeteria.

The funds have been raised and SPICC is hoping to start construction in the next few months. The first task will be to remove the existing home and garage and then construct the classroom building. SPICC hopes that both the classroom and auditorium building will be complete by the start of the school year in 2008!

Project Scope
In 1986 Rev. and Mrs. Fa’atui Laolagi founded the South Pacific International Christian Center (S.P.I.C.C.). The main ministry of S.P.I.C.C. is a preschool through 8th grade Christian school which teaches 240 students per year. S.P.I.C.C. has an excellent reputation in American Samoa, not only for its high academic standards and broad curriculum, but also for the care and effort that is given to nurturing the children’s spirituality and understanding of traditional Samoan culture. For these reasons, the school operates at full capacity, often with a waiting list for new enrollment.

From the ministry's project application:
We desire eMi’s help with our capstone project: a new, two-story, 10,000 square-foot building that will house an auditorium, school offices, three additional classrooms, and other needed facilities. We need this building to stabilize our enrollment at about 280 students a year, and to provide the space needed to fully serve the needs of our students and their families.

Our large enrollment in recent years has forced us to rent off-site auditoriums for our graduation ceremonies and public concerts (we have a wonderful school chorus). Furthermore, the absence of a large hall has prevented us from conducting school-wide assemblies, concerts, family education, family services, and other extra-curricular activities in a timely and efficient manner. The new building will enable us to provide these additional programs and services, and will replace the much smaller meeting “fale” and office presently located at the front of the school.

The eMi team will develop and provide fundraising materials and a design report including drawings for the new auditorium/classroom building. S.P.I.C.C. has already started fundraising and hopes to begin construction in July 2006. Please consider joining us in serving this very worthy ministry in the beautiful South Pacific!
