Project Scope
Esther's Aid for Needy and Abandoned Children was founded in 1999 as a faith-based organization dedicated to responding to the needs of orphans and needy children. Clare Effiong, the founder, visited Rwanda in 2000 and was stunned by the suffering endured by small children --- children without parents, shelter, little clothing, malnurishment, ill health, HIV/AIDS, drug addiction, sexual exploitation, and child labor. The objectives of Esther's Aid are to help the children become productive adults through education and skills training. In giving them skills and tools, the children have an opportunity to create a sustainable future and contribute to their communities and the world at large. Esther's Aid, in its first decade, has established primary schools, a skills training school for at-risk girls, empowerment centers, Bible studies, discipleship training, gospel outreach, and more.
Esther's Aid has acquired its own property, about 1.5 acres of partially developed land (with existing buildings) in the capital of Kigali on which to develop the Village of Peace Vocational School. The long-term plan is to develop a school of design and culinary arts for 150 students and a house of refuge for girls. In Phase 1, the existing buildings on site will be renovated to include a kitchen and bakery and classrooms for vocational training, an event hall, and administrative offices. In the future there is also vision for a mini-medical clinic, chapel, and a dormitory for temporary refuge.
While not yet fully confirmed, there may be an additional opportunity to spend a couple of extra days assisting in updating a master plan and designing a dormitory for a previous EMI- East Africa project also located in Kigali. Please inquire with the project leader for details.
You are invited to join an EMI team which will give hope at-risk girls in Rwanda through Esther's Aid, an established and faith-filled ministry. Contact us today! Esther's Aid website.
