In 1915 a medical ministry was established in Kijabe, Kenya by African Inland Mission. Over the last nearly 100 years the work has grown in impacting lives well over 100,000 patients a year in the present day 250+ bed hospital, outpatient department, and medical training facility known as AIC Kijabe Hospital. Today the hospital is running at maximum capacity for its current physical size and infrastructure. There are more than 20 proposed expansion plans for the physical buildings on site in the next 10 years, however there is very little documentation in the form of plans of the layout of their present on-site buildings, water, wastewater, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Board needs documentation of the existing site buildings and infrastructure in place before developing its strategic growth plan for the next 10 years. EMI will be sending two teams. This first team will focus exclusively on documenting the existing 80-acre site with all of its buildings and infrastructure with some recommendations for any immediate needs. A second team will go later in 2010 after the as-built drawings and evaluation report have been completed to develop the 10-year growth plan for the site.
