Project Scope
The New Testament Churches of Christ in Uganda have formed Harmony Group, Ltd. to develop a LivingStone International University which will transform Africa through quality Christ-centered education. Financial partnership for the development of the University comes through Churches of Christ and Christian Churches in East Africa, the United States, and Europe. Eventually 4,000 students will be able to study at the facility to obtain training in ministry, in agriculture, information technology, and business. In the near term the university plans to open its doors to its first 100 students around the end of 2011 while offering agriculture and information technology degree programs. The university has acquired 54 acres of agricultural and undeveloped land near Mbale, Uganda and EMI has been requested to help them develop the university plans in stages. The first project team will take on the campus master plan development including architectural, utilities, and agricultural planning. The team is also needed to develop the detailed drawings for the most complex phase 1 building, a classroom and administration building which will also include library space. In a later phase, the library and classrooms will move out of this building and allow full expansion of the administrative needs for the campus. The drawings for this building and phase 1 infrastructure plans will be taken to construction level and the work begun as soon as possible, most likely in the second half of 2010. As time allows, the first project team will also do preliminary floor plans designs of residential areas for students and faculty, facilities which are also needed in time for the opening of the university.

As LIU equips and trains students for effective service, they find their vision in the following scripture:

"As you come to him, the Living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:4-5
